The spirit of FolkyTalk

FolkyTalk exists so people can hear something they rarely hear: how they come across to the people around them. That only works if feedback is honest, first-hand and considerate. Write the kind of comment you would be comfortable receiving yourself.

Describe, don’t diagnose. “I often need to follow up on plans” helps. “They’re unreliable” does not.

Speak for yourself. Share your own experience, not rumours or what others told you.

Stay unidentifiable. Leave out names, places, dates and one-off events. What is not allowed

Harassment and bullying

Insults, humiliation, mocking someone’s appearance, body or circumstances, repeated negative reviews of the same person to wear them down, or encouraging others to do so.

Hate

Attacking or demeaning people for their race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, caste, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, age, serious illness or any other protected characteristic. Slurs are never allowed.

Sexual content

Sexually explicit or suggestive comments, remarks about someone’s sex life, or unwanted sexual attention. Anything sexualising a minor is strictly forbidden and reported to the authorities (see our Child Safety Standards).

Threats and violence

Threats, wishing harm on someone, glorifying violence, or encouraging self-harm.

Impersonation and fake accounts

Pretending to be someone else, creating accounts in someone else’s name, or using several accounts to influence results.

Spam and manipulation

Advertising, links, chain messages, automated reviews, or coordinating with others to push someone’s results up or down.

Illegal activity

Content that promotes or arranges anything illegal, including fraud, drugs, weapons or trafficking.

Privacy violations

Sharing someone’s private information (address, phone number, health, finances, private messages or photos), revealing secrets, or trying to find out who reviewed you or someone else.

Off-topic sensitive content

Keep someone’s religion and politics out of your comments: FolkyTalk is about how it feels to be around someone.

3. How FolkyTalk keeps feedback safe

Nothing anyone writes is ever displayed. Private comments are never shown to the person reviewed, to other users, or anywhere else. People only see AI-written summaries.

The AI never repeats a comment. It never quotes or closely paraphrases what anyone wrote, mentions a theme only when more than one person raised it, and leaves out names, places, dates and one-off events.

Only people who know someone can review them. To review someone found by search, you must enter their phone number or email address.

Human review: reports and serious cases are reviewed by a person.

4. Enforcement

Depending on how serious and repeated a violation is, we may:

leave the content out of summaries, or remove it;

warn the account;

temporarily limit or suspend the account;

permanently close the account and block new accounts from the same person;

report the matter to the authorities, where there is a risk to someone’s safety or the law requires it.

Severe violations, such as child exploitation or credible threats, lead to immediate permanent removal.

5. Reporting

If you think something on FolkyTalk breaks these guidelines, report it here. Reports are confidential: the person you report is never told who reported them.

6. Appeals

If we removed your content or restricted your account and you think we got it wrong, you can appeal within 30 days using the appeal form. Tell us which account is affected and why you think the decision should change. A person who was not involved in the original decision reviews every appeal, and we reply with the outcome, usually within 14 days.

In short Describe how it feels to be around someone.
